About The Owner
Manaar Zuhurudeen, M.A., CCC-SLP is the owner and lead speech language pathologist of The Peach Room (TPR) Speech Language Services. She is also an adjunct lecturer for the University of Maryland’s Hearing and Speech Sciences department.
She graduated with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Hearing and Speech Sciences and Speech Language Pathology, respectively, from the University of Maryland College Park. Manaar has over eleven years of clinical experience working with diverse communities and clients as young as two years old in public and private schools, daycares, and acute care. She is licensed in the state of Maryland as well as by ASHA, the American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association.
Manaar is Level 2 PROMPT trained and enthusiastically uses this tactile-kinesthetic approach to treat communication disorders.
Manaar’s professional areas of interest and experience include: bilingual child language acquisition, expressive and receptive language impairments, articulation and phonology, accent modification, fluency (stuttering, cluttering), developmental delay, Autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, ADHD, dysphagia (swallowing disorders), cognitive impairments (e.g., post-stroke), intellectual disability and other learning impairments. She is active in language acquisition research and has been published in Cognition.
